foundations

Foundations began as a personal exploration of how light shapes atmosphere and everyday experience. Developed in collaboration with the Kielener Atelier, a protected workshop, the lamp combines design, local craftsmanship, and social inclusion in a single object.

The design takes an architectural approach, treating the lamp as a small spatial structure. It shows how light, form and presence quietly shape how we experience our surroundings.

Each base is handcrafted from locally sourced wood, while a softly frosted glass dome diffuses light into a warm, calm glow. The contrast between wood and glass creates a balance between grounding and lightness, giving the object a quiet presence.

Rather than dominating a space, Foundations works through subtlety, reflecting how presence, movement and use shape the spaces we inhabit through light, material and spatial expression.
